Sound Familiar?

Common console problems I fix every week

Joy-Con / Stick Drift

Your character moves on its own. Menus scroll randomly. Aiming is impossible. This is a hardware issue — recalibration won't fix it permanently.

No Display / HDMI Issues

Console powers on but TV says "No Signal." The HDMI port pins are bent, loose, or corroded. This is the #1 PS5 and Xbox repair I do.

Overheating / Loud Fan

Console sounds like a jet engine or shuts off during gameplay. Dried thermal paste + dust buildup = CPU throttling. A deep clean fixes this.

Won't Read Discs

Disc spins but game won't load, or the console won't accept the disc at all. Could be a dirty laser, bad roller, or failed disc drive motor.

Won't Charge / Dead Battery

Switch or Steam Deck won't turn on or dies in under an hour. Usually a worn battery or damaged USB-C port — both are replaceable.

Cracked / Dead Screen

Switch or Steam Deck took a fall. Cracked glass, dead pixels, touch not responding. I replace the full display assembly for a factory-fresh result.

Why not just ship it to the manufacturer?

Speed

Nintendo warranty repair? 3–6 weeks. Sony service center? 2–4 weeks. I fix most consoles same day. When your kid's Switch is their life, three weeks feels like a year.

Cost

Out-of-warranty repairs from manufacturers can cost $100–$250+ plus shipping both ways. My Joy-Con drift fix is $45 — with Hall-effect sticks that never drift again — and HDMI port repair is $170–$175 with no shipping at all. Do the math.

Your Save Data

Manufacturers sometimes wipe your console during repair. I never touch your data. Your Zelda save with 200+ hours? Still there when you get it back. Promise.

Simple Process

Three steps. That's it.

01

Text Me

Text (208) 450-1606 with your console model and what's going on. A video of the issue helps me diagnose faster.

02

Drop Off or Ship

In the Wood River Valley? Drop it off in Hailey. Elsewhere in Idaho? Ship it — I'll send packing instructions.

03

Game On

Most repairs done same-day. I text when it's ready. 40-day warranty on every repair. Your saves, your settings — untouched.

Console FAQ

Questions about game console repair

How much does Joy-Con drift repair cost?

Joy-Con drift repair is $45 for a single Joy-Con or $70 for the pair. I install Hall-effect stick modules — not just a recalibration that'll drift again in a week — so the new sticks never drift again. Most drift repairs take under an hour and come with a 40-day warranty.

Can you fix a PS5 that won't display on TV?

Almost always, yes. The PS5 HDMI port takes a beating — cables get yanked, kids trip over them, the connector loosens over time. HDMI port replacement is $175 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ($170 for PS4 and Xbox One) and takes 1–2 hours. I desolder the damaged port and install a new one rated to HDMI 2.1 specs. I test with multiple cables and resolutions before returning it to you.

Do you repair all Switch models?

Yes — every model: Switch OLED (HEG-001), Switch V2 (HAC-001-01), original Switch (HAC-001), and Switch Lite (HDH-001). Common repairs include Joy-Con drift, screen replacement (LCD $150, OLED $225, Switch 2 $280), USB-C charging port ($160), battery ($110), fan replacement ($125), game card reader ($140), and rail connector issues.

Can you fix Xbox / PS5 controller drift?

Absolutely. Drift repair is $90 for DualSense, Xbox Wireless, and Elite controllers. I install Hall-effect/TMR stick modules that never drift again. DualSense charging port or battery swaps are $60. The repair takes under an hour, and I'll test it in a game with precise aim requirements before giving it back.

Do you repair Steam Decks?

Yes! Valve designed the Steam Deck to be repairable and I take full advantage. Common repairs — joystick drift, screen replacement, battery swaps, and SSD upgrades — are quoted per job once you text the model (LCD or OLED) and the symptom. The Steam Deck is honestly one of my favorite devices to work on — it's built for repair.

Is it worth repairing an older console like PS4 or Xbox One?

Usually yes. A PS4 thermal repaste + deep clean ($130, or $85 as an add-on when the console is already open for another repair) can give it another 3–5 years. HDMI port repair ($170 for PS4/Xbox One) is a fraction of a used replacement. I'll give you an honest assessment — if the repair cost approaches what the console is worth, I'll tell you straight. No upselling, ever.

Ready to fix your console?

Text me what's going on — a quick description or even a video. I'll reply with a quote, usually within 30 minutes.
